It is our pleasure to present you with Zowie‘s latest mix tape ‘Bad-Ass Bitch.’ On the delightful 30-minute mix she fuses together a range of female artists who delight us with their feisty attitudes and killer tracks.
She takes us back with some vintage TLC, adds fresh cuts from the likes of Rihanna and Azealia Banks, and drops in the divine The Slips remix of her own feisty single ‘Smash It.’ Get your Monday started off right and grab this fine salute to some of the most Bad-Ass Bitches in the game!
These female artists are all full of sass and intelligence and I admire each of them for different reasons. There is a dirty hip hop vibe to this mix tape which was inspired by releasing our free hip hop nasty track ‘You Did The NONO’ a couple of weeks ago and opening for Nicki Minaj on the same night! We wanted each track to flow in a way where it sounded like the song before was part of the next song rather than a stop start tape.
1. M.I.A – XR2
2. Kid Sister – Right Hand High
3. Rihanna – Cockiness
4. Azealia Banks – 212 (feat Lazt Jay)
5. Zowie – Smash It (The Slips Remix)
6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Gold Lion (Nick Zinner Remix)
7. Peaches – Billionaire
8. Rihanna – Fresh Off The Runway
9. TLC – Silly Ho
We’ve been enjoying Zowie‘s Love Demolition album for a few weeks now, and while we ready our review we’re bringing you stream of the brilliant debut so you can let us know what YOU think. Check it out below!
Zowie has premiered the video for her amazing new Henrik Jonback (Miike Snow, Britney Spears, Madonna, Kelis and Kylie Minogue) produced single My Calculator and we could not be more impressed! The song is an delightful slice of electro pop with a tough edge that only our girl can bring, and the video is a glorious colorful treat in which Zowie gives us some serious attitude!
Her new album Love Demolition dropped in New Zealand on Friday and they have shared an brilliant mini-mix so you can see what you’re in for if you haven’t yet got your hands on it. We’re been enjoying the album at Hard Candy HQ for quite some time and the review will be coming soon!
She’s come a long way since we introduced her to NYC at our showcase back in 2011. Huge things are just around the corner and we couldn’t be happier for her!
We’re very excited that the video for Zowie‘s lastest single Smash It video has just premiered. As usual our girl rocks it hard and sports some kick ass costumes! Talent, style and beauty what more could you ask for? Zowie‘s the total package!
MTV Iggy has nominated Zowie for for best new band and we think they deserve to win! So head on over and cast your vote!
It’s been a few months since we last heard from Zowie as she has been busy touring with Katy Perry in Australia and New Zealand and finishing up her album.
Now she’s back with bang with her new single Smash It! It’s an undeniable catchy blend of electro pop and some punchy rock elements. The track was recorded in LA with Jimmy Harry (Oh Land, Pink, Jessie & The Toyboys) and mixed by Michael Patterson (Nine Inch Nails, P Diddy, Jennifer Lopez)
Can you believe it’s been almost a year since she performed at our CMJ show? Time flies!
We’ve been eager to hear new music from Zowie, and are very excited that she has dropped another viral track on us in advance of her forthcoming album, which she has been hard at work on during the last few months! (as well as opening for the likes of Katy Perry back in her homeland!)
Zowie delves deeper into rock on Love or Hate than on her previous buzz tracks, with some assistance from Sebastien Grainger ofDeath From Above 1979. You really have to play this one loud and scream it from the top of your lungs…. break a few bottles while you’re at it!
We’re beginning a new series here on Hard Candy where we team up budding remixer talent with our favorite artists. Our first curated project comes in the form of the first official remix of Bite Back by Zowieand she loves it!
After loving his work on Florrie, we immediately reached out to Seattle, WA based electronic mixer Codebaseand asked him to work his magic on Bite Back. The result is a strut down the street, walk off your troubles affair with a driving bass line + tons of disco bleeps. Download it for free and play it loud!- Matt
