The Spice Girls reunited tonight for the Olympics closing ceremony in London and were undoubtedly the highlight of the evening! Pulling up to the stage in 5 London cabs, they leapt out all looking absolutely flawless and launched into a stellar performance of Wannabe, which featured a Dusbtep break (which surprisingly I didn’t hate), then lead into Spice Up You Life.
The highlight of the performance was them all riding around on the top of the colorful taxis, grinning from ear to ear and having the time of their lives shaking it to Spice Up Your Life. It was short but sweet and they totally stole the show, but honestly I think its ridiculous that Jessie J got about 5 songs and they got 2. With the amount of hits they have and the rarity of performances like this (they actually said it will be there last ever one) they should have had far more time! Nevertheless it was a blast!
Today, The Spice Girls reunited in London to announce Viva Forever a musical based on their many hit songs which has been produced by the brilliant Jennifer Saunders.
The musical which is due to launch in December at the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End will focus on the story of four characters that audition for a TV talent show. We kinda wish this was based on the Spice Girls story, but for that we always have Spice World.
P.S Yesterday’s event was held at the same hotel where Wannabe was filmed, so if those stairs look familiar you know why!
Let me start with this. Do you see that obnoxiously large Union Jack flag with the Spice Girls faces plastered on to it in the background? Well that belongs to me, Matt and a few of our other crazy friends! When I heard the Spice Girls were doing a reunion tour and would be heading to U.S shores, I jumped for joy and snagged tickets right away – I did not expect the level of enthusiasm from my non-British friends here in the U.S. haha!
It was trip down memory lane and a I’ll freely admit my love for the show, it was a damn good fun night out! Now more than two years later professionally shot tour footage has just popped up online and it looks like the tour may be released on DVD! Yay!
