On Wednesday night, we had planned to catch Icona Pop at Glasslands in Brooklyn, but when we realized it was only a DJ set we tried to catch Sky Ferreira at Union Hall instead. She was supposed to be on at 8, but after we arrived we learned it was now 10, meaning we couldn’t stay for it or we would miss other artists in the City. So, after seeing Gabriel Bruce we were about to head out when I spotted Capital Cities setting up.
Although I loved their self-titled EP, they hadn’t made my list of absolute must-see bands, now after having seen them I realize that was a mistake. Their short set was one of the best I saw all week, the brilliant electro tunes took on a whole new dimension in a live capacity. They had a really great energy, and before long the whole crowd was dancing away.
We then ended up catching Maluca‘s set at Webster Hall and Nina Sky, who I haven’t really paid any attention to since their comeback but put on a pretty entertaining performance. Watch some videos from the night below…
