Over the weekend Florrie premiered the video for Shot You Down, the first single from her Late EP. In the stunning black and white clip we see her back behind the drums and delivering her lines with a serious attitude!
Florrie‘s latest release Late is the third in a series of independently released EPs that the uber talented British songstress has treated us to over the past few years. Like her previous offerings, the four track EP is expertly crafted pop with fantastic synths, smooth vocals, and a serious injection of attitude!
Things get off to an excellent start withthe feisty Shot You Down, a French disco take on the Wild West which boasts a fantastically catchy chorus“Got my finger on the gun, bang bang I shot you down” she sings, showing Madonna‘s not the only gun-toting pop star in the game!
Next up is I’m Gonna Get You Back, a fast paced guitar heavy track on which Florrie sings about getting her man back. This is a little more rock flavored than the songs on Introduction or Experiments but the addition of soft wistful hooks give the song a great balance, and it’s brilliant to see her playing around with styles.
On Every Inch, she seductively schools a prospective lover on what he must do to get with her. Electrifying synths and a pounding bassline make this instant classic and my personal favorite on this release. It marks all the boxes of what a good pop song should be and has huge potential to be a mainstream hit.
To The End, makes for a wonderful album closer, it takes us into more melancholy territory lyrically but the energy is maintained with an interesting mix of punchy synths, smashing drums and a haunting piano.
Late is the last independent release as Florrie has now signed to a major label, we’re so excited for her! Late is available on iTunes now.
Florrie teases her upcoming Late EP with short clips of four glistening new tracks Shot You Down, Every Inch, I’m Gonna Get You Back and To The End. In a recent blog post, Florrie explains that this may just be the last independent release as she’s looking to sign to a major label. She also dishes about the new tracks, deservingly proud of her new work!
This new EP is the most interesting and best stuff I had from the new songs I’ve written that weren’t the other two big tracks I mentioned before. I am SOOOO proud of the work, and I want to say a massive thanks to the team, who have stuck with me writing and making these records! This EP has been made in Kent, Shoreditch, Portland and LA! I know you guys have waited a long time for this, but I really feel like it’s gonna be worth the wait. And of all the EP names I came up with, along with your ideas too, at the end of the day, the most appropriate name, and the name I’ve chosen, is… “LATE” :) I think it’s pretty perfect…because it is so LATE!
The EP is out on May 31st worldwide. Never one to forget the visuals, the video below featuring a vintage radio as the teaser mega mix plays. We’re in love with the new tracks, ready for more!
When we got the chance to preview Experimenting Florrie‘s new EP this week, Matt and I both jumped for joy! As we expected she delivered a joyous 6 track EP that was well worth the wait. The EP is available for download on Tuesday June 14th, but in advance of that the lovely lady has just dropped the video for the next single Experimenting With Rugs! She puts those model looks to good use vamping it up in the photo shoot style video!
