Janelle Monae Announces New Album ‘Electric Lady’

Janelle Monae has just announced the follow-up to her excellent debut album ‘The ArchAndroid’, one of my favorite releases of 2010,  is on the way!  While there is no release date for ‘Electric Lady’ yet, we will get our first taste very soon!

Much to our excitement, the first single ‘Q.U.E.E.N’ features none other than the fabulous Erykah Badu and will be dropping on JanelleMonae.com on April 22nd. I’m way beyond excited for this collaboration, I can only imagine the brilliance of these two amazing artists combined!

Daft Punk: Random Access Memories The Collaborators: Nile Rodgers

A few days ago, Daft Punk released the third installment of their The Collaborators video series, it features the legendary Nile Rodgers. Watch as he discusses his past collaborations and his experience working with Daft Punk. I love watching him jam out to one of their collaborations on his headphones!

You should also check out the excellent BBC documentary Nile Rogers: The Hitmaker  which we shared over on Facebook a few days ago. Such a talent!

Madonna: Blond Ambition Tour Rehearsals – Like a Virgin, Oh Father & Keep it Together

Some amazing footage of Madonna‘s ’Blonde Ambition Tour’ rehearsals from the  upcoming documentary ‘Man Behind The Throne’ has just made its way online. Take a look at Madonna rehearsing ‘Like a Virgin‘, ‘Oh Father’ & ‘Keep It Together’ and hear commentary from choreographer Vince Patterson.

Just look at that footage of her rehearsing ‘Like A Virgin‘ in an empty room on a plain old mattress, and think what a show stopping performance that turned into!  This is the stuff dreams are made of.

“This tour, this was the first time really, that anything like this ever had happened.  With these types of major sets, with the star dancing and singing as much as she did.  The whole crucifix and dancing with all the guys that were dressed up as priests.  Every number was a dance.  She was so fit, she danced, hard, hard.  It was insane.  This tour really pushed her over the top.  It was Madonna.  There was nobody else.” - Vince Paterson

Florrie Returns With ‘Live A Little’

Last week, the lovely Florrie made a welcome return with ‘Live a Little,’ which was recorded for a Sony Electronics ad.  It’s beyond catchy,  I’m living for those horns and pounding drums!

She’s been working hard on her debut album over the last few months, and we’re very excited to hear what she’s been working on!  You can read more about what she’s been up  on her website.
