We just received another remix of Adele‘s hit Rolling In The Deep in our inbox this morning, and it’s 80′s synth heaven!
London based electronic outfit Luxar have rolled in their take on the chart-topper and we’re absolutely in love with the result! Their debut Arrival EP is available for free download here. If you love airy synths and dance-able bass lines in your music these guys will be right up your alley.
My favorite mix of this track so far is still the Avicii take, but this one is a surefire runner up to being the best! - Matt
The electronic masterminds announced the release of a second remix collection a few weeks ago, Remixes 2: 81-11. The massive 3 disc extravaganza (released on June 6th) includes mixes of classic Depeche hits by some of our favorite new talent - Röyksopp, Peter, Bjorn and John, Orbital, Digitalism, UNKLE, M83…the list continues!
I’m very excited to share a new remix of Personal Jesus by Alex Metricwith you all tonight! Love that he kept true to the original but made it a lot harder with tons of grit! - Matt
Kylie Minoguesure surprised us a week weeks ago with the release of a remix video to Put Your Hands Up. I always thought it should have been an official single and the Pete Hammond remix is an extravaganza of 80′s synths and samples! I’ve included the extended mix (a little different than the video version) for you all to enjoy!
Fans of the good ‘ol days where most of the chart topping hits were made by production trio SAW aka Stock/Aitken & Waterman (which Hammond was engineer for) will be excited to hear this mix! They worked their signature sound into some of the best pop acts of the time including Banannarama, Rick Astley, Laura Branigan, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Dead or Alive and of course our girl Kylie…just to name a few!
Personally I get a bit excited every time I get to the breakdown a little after 4:00 in! This is by far the best remix to come from the entire Aphroditecampaign of singles! Very unique for our times! Don’t forget to check out the remix video here. - Matt
Oh, Lady Gaga! So i’m sure half the world is sick of hearing Born This Way at this point, but i’ll admit I still get a bit excited when it comes on the radio or my iTunes! I wasn’t too pleased with the remix work on this track, even though some of my favorite producers were given the chance – not sure what happened there!
The track has been given a unique remix treatment in the style of Bollywood, thanks to producers Salim & Sulaiman. It’s a pretty neat take on the song in addition to the country road version released a few weeks ago. Only a bit longer to wait until we finally hear Judas, the second single from the new album.
The first single comes in the form of Watch The World Go By, a futuristic pop/disco tune that’s got instant appeal. It features some of Sweden’s best – Le Prix and Lake Heartbeat. From what we hear on this track, it’s definitely going to be one of the most anticipated albums this year in the indie/electronic scene.
Recorded all over the world in places like Montreal, London and Milan, the full length will include collaborations with CFCF, Steve Moore (Lovelock, Zombi, Miracle),Sally Shapiro, Fred Ventura, Lake Heartbeat and Le Prix. What a roster of diverse talent! Paper Bag Records always has great releases so make sure to check out their roster! We’ve supported remixes by Glasnost in the past but this one definiately trumps previous work. Check out this revamp of synth-pop duo La Roux‘s hit Bulletproof! Love the fact that they used some alternate vocals on this one.
The duo are currently working on new material with an ‘indie rock’ band and have said there will be some real instruments in the mix. Don’t worry, Elly has confirmed she will not stop until the tracks are as powerful and catchy as the first album was. She’s also said she’s feeling ‘sexier’ on this record.
Are you looking forward to their follow up album? - Matt
