In May of 2011 Goldfrapp started hinting at their sixth studio album, and have been recording slowly in the studio ever since. The duo announced this morning that they’ll be playing the album live with the RNCM string orchestra at the Manchester International Festival on July 16/17. Tickets on sale March 1 here.
The official announcement of their new album comes without a name, or first single news but we can safely assume that the widescreen orchestral sounds of Goldfrapp are here to stay. The album is slated for release in late Summer.
From what we can see, Alison seems to be recording some icy vocals at her studio in the snowy countryside, good news all around.
While the ‘Discipline‘ album was far from Janet Jackson‘s best work, I did take a liking to ‘Rock With U,’ and one of our readers has just shared this rather nice Ghosts of Venice rework in our Hard Candy Facebook group. I’m loving the sexy beat and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
In other news, amid rumors that she was due to tie the knot in an extravagant ceremony this weekend, Janet released this statement:
“The rumours regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet”
Another album to look forward to in 2013 will be Sophie Ellis-Bextor‘s follow up to 2011′s ‘Make A Scene.‘ She is currently in the studio working on it, and a few nights ago at the Elle Style Awards she revealed that it will have a different sound to what we’re used to from her, briefly describing it as being “a bit less dancey” and having “elements of fairytales and the ’70s and the ’60s.”
We’re interested to see where this new direction takes her, but we hope she still manages to squeeze in some quality dance numbers! She is aiming to release the album in September, and in the meantime you can read more about it in Sophie’s recent Q&A with her official site.
We know that Kylie Minogue has been working on new music since spring 2012, and today we learn that she is working with Fernando Garibay on the follow-up to the flawless ‘Aphrodite.’ Fernando’s most recently produced most of Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way’ album, and his name is also attached to ‘ArtPop.’
For those of you not excited about the Gaga connection, he has also done some good tracks for Britney Spears (Quicksand, Amnesia) and the Sugababes (Wear My Kiss).I have faith they’ll come up with some great stuff!
Wow, what a big surprise! It was just announced that Kylie Minogue has signed to Jay- Z’s Roc Nation. It appears that she has only signed with them for management (she joins artists like Solange, Shakira and Santigold on their management roster.) Kylie parted way with her long-term manager Terry Blamey in January. I hope this little shake up helps propel Kylie’s career in the U.S. to greater heights!
“Roc Nation would like to welcome Aussie singer, recording artist, songwriter, actress and designer Kylie Minogue to the family,” read the statement. “In a career now spanning 25 years, Kylie has released 11 studio albums, two live CDs, eight live concert DVDs, a greatest hits double album, and multiple video packages. She has released over 50 hit singles worldwide, including the Grammy-winning Come Into My World, and has sold more than 68 million albums worldwide. Needless to say, we’re excited to have Kylie join the Roc fam.”
Do you think this is good news? sound off in the comments!
Moments ago, an early demo of Christina Aguilera‘supcoming first single Your Body leaked online. You’ve gotta love the filthy lyrics ‘All I wanna do is fuck your body’, they totally give us Stripped era flashbacks!
She’s been hard at work in the studio working on her next studio album, lining up Max Martin for production duties. It’s due to be released by the end of the year.
Yesterday, a more uptempo snippet leaked (listen below) We’ve heard the finished version and it’s much more uptempo with killer production that you’re going to flip out over. It’s a total anthem and perfect comeback material, she really nailed it this time!
Our friend Muumuse has just shared a portion of one of the remixes, isn’t it flawless?
A few days ago, she tweeted this picture from the video set, I’m loving the shoes! Can’t wait for her return, I hope that she does it right cause this song being the first single is very promising!
