Labyrinth Ear: Urchin + CMJ Dates

Well, I totally forgot to post this when it was released, but since Labyrinth Ear are in town for CMJ, what better time to share it!  ”Urchin” is a moody track with a stormy bassline, twinkly synths and hypnotizing vocals.  These two create such interesting tunes, I love the Asian influences in this one!

I’m so eager to hear the rest of the music they’ve been working on, and hopefully I’ll get the chance in a few days time when I see them play right in my backyard! If you’re in NYC over the next few days you can catch them at the following places:

CMJ DATES:
18 October – Pianos, NY – 12:00am
19 October – 252 Norman Ave - 9:15pm
20 October – Cameo Gallery, Brooklyn – 8:30pm

MadonnEverybody

Madonna’s Everybody Turns 30!

” I know you’ve been waiting, I’ve been watching you, I know you wanna get up, come on”

Can you believe that it’s 30 years today since Madonna‘s first single Everybody was released? This was the song that introduced the world to her, while on a night out in NYC she handed the tape to DJ Mark Kamins and convinced him to play it, after it received a good reaction from the crowd he decided to try and help her get a record deal, and with his help she eventually signed to Sire records and the rest is history!

A few years ago the first live performance of the track surfaced, it took place at Danceteria a club in downtown NYC that M used to frequent with her friends. Some of whom are her backup dancers in the video… who can name them?

Then of course there is the official video, a low budget affair, once again shot at Danceteria. There are no bells and whistles here, but can’t you feel the star power emanating from her? Those dance moves, the menswear, the red lips and smoky eyes, and the glorious close up of her face while she whispers her invitation to dance. She was everything then, and 30 years later she still is…

p.s make sure you enter the official Madonna 30th anniversary sleeve face contest, you could win signed goodies and pit tickets!

JessieWare1

Jessie Ware: Night Light Video Premiere + Perseus Remix

This morning, Jessie Ware dropped the sleek new video for her latest single ‘Night Light, taken from the perfect debut album Devotion‘. It’s one of my favorites on the album and I’m excited that it has given such a stunning video treatment by director Chris Sweeney. Jessie proves you don’t need a lot of bells and whistles to create a gorgeous video when you’ve got a song as strong as this to work with!

You should grab Moon Boot‘s French Express labelmate Perseus‘ remix of the song which Annie Mac shared yesterday. It’s a winner!

Chic

Chic: Everybody Dance (Stealth Mode Remix)

I’m a huge fan of Chic and it’s pretty rare to ever find a remix that does their original material justice.  That makes me all the more impressed with the Stealth Mode remix of the classic Everybody Dance. He’s totally transformed it with an intense French House rework that will surely rock your world.

MP3/ Everybody Dance (Stealth Mode Remix)

I couldn’t possibly post this mix without a nod to the brilliant original, 25 years later and it still sounds so fresh.  Enjoy this 1978 performance, aren’t the guys just  impossibly smooth?

ChristinaAguilera

Listen to the demo of Christina Aguilera’s new single ‘Your Body’

Moments ago, an early demo of Christina Aguilera‘s upcoming first single Your Body leaked online. You’ve gotta love the filthy lyrics ‘All I wanna do is fuck your body’, they totally give us Stripped era flashbacks!

She’s been hard at work in the studio working on her next studio album, lining up Max Martin for production duties. It’s due to be released by the end of the year.

Yesterday, a more uptempo snippet leaked (listen below) We’ve heard the finished version and it’s much more uptempo with killer production that you’re going to flip out over. It’s a total anthem and perfect comeback material, she really nailed it this time!

Our friend Muumuse has just shared a portion of one of the remixes, isn’t it flawless?

A few days ago, she tweeted this picture from the video set, I’m loving the shoes! Can’t wait for her return, I hope that she does it right cause this song being the first single is very promising!

Are you ready for the return of Xtina?
